How do You Know When You're Done Wet Sanding?
Good show Jerry! I bought a HUD brand wool pad at my wholesale paint store with low expectations, but I buffed the entire Torino with excellent results. 😉😉
I just used this only 5 times and that’s it. It can’t charge anymore. What a waste of money.
good
Pardon my ignorance, but, when glueing, do you use full rocker or slip on? I never done that before. Thank you.
Have 2 different styles of those cutters, probably bought back in the 70s 😊
👍😊
this video looks like it was made in 1998 :D
That's because I used a Panasonic PV950 - the kind of VHS camera you actually wear on your shoulder! 🥴
@@LakesideAutobody that's really cool, it looks way better than those filters people use in an attempt to make their video look old.
You always make it look easy Jerry 💯💪🏾
Thanks for checking it out UPK - hope all is well with you and your family. Have a great weekend :)
Bless Simple work with great results. Thanks 😊
Thanks John - thanks for watching too - have a great weekend :)
Was that original paint? Tons of orange peel.
Not the original paint - you're right - i did have a bit of orange peel for sure :)
Is it just me , or did the price of autobody materials get way out of hand lately?
I think it about doubled since covid - honestly. I was paying around $25 bucks for a cheap gallon of filler pre covid - now - same filler is $50 something. Not cool 🥴
Amazing how the shine comes back ! I must get myself some wool pads, well done Jerry, have a great weekend my friend !
Thanks Stephan - hope your summer is going well. Have a great weekend my friend :)
I wonder how many cars could be saved from the junkyards if everyone knew about this. Nice work Jerry
Thanks Pat - I appreciate the kind words - have a great weekend :)
Flood Penetrol is another way to restore faded paint. As, always, have a great weekend Jerry.
You Big Blue - thanks for watching as always :)
gravy job with biscuit wheels
Does that AMX have the same lacquer paint that 60's GM cars had?
That was not the original paint but I do think it was lacquer as it buffed out very easily. I think GM continued to use lacquer even into the 80's - their paint was garbage for years - now everyone's paint looks great - all OEM is pretty nice 👍
What is a d.a.?
It's a dual action sander - sort of an orbital type sander - like this - www.harborfreight.com/6-in-dual-action-air-sander-58648.html
Amazing the shine came back. Good to know. Thanks for sharing 👍
My pleasure 😊 - have a great weekend Steve 👍
good
Another great video. I like how you keep it simple. Thank you for your time you spend to make these. Have a safe weekend.
You too my friend - thanks for watching :)
Eazy when you know how. Great that you pass on your knowledge. Have a great week. Bob
Thanks so much for the kind words - great to hear. Have a great week yourself my friend :)
great video, drink three for me Jerry
It's been so hot out lately, I think I will - have a great weekend my friend 😵
Great job! Always great videos, cos they're to the point, informative, and no bull! EASY TO FOLLOW! - MANY UA-camrs could learn from your videos! I'm surprised you haven't got 1m subscribers by now!? Top man... 👍🏻🏴🇬🇧
I appreciate that my friend. Actually most body shops keep it pretty simple - no epoxy primers, fancy fillers, blocks, etc. I'm glad you like the to-the-point style - have a great weekend 👍😊
@@LakesideAutobody yeah I'd imagine they do.. cheers and you also 👍🏻
thats come up really nice! can you tell us about what you wear when spraying for breathing? i have 3m face mask.. thanks
Thanks a lot. This is the type of mask I wear for painting and priming - anything with harmful vapors - 3M 07193 Dual Cartridge Respirator Assembly Organic Vapor , Large I'll do a short video on that soon - great topic :)
Great advice & tips as always, many thanks 👍
You're welcome Zubey - have a good weekend my friend :)
Great stuff as usual!!!
I appreciate that Mr Bigg - have a good weekend my friend :)
Hello Is it the m30 or m60? Did you modify it to be able to put a toilet paper roll ? Some guys say you need to modify it, can you give me some details please ?
The M30 - I think the M60 is for bigger hoses. There is no modification needed for a TP roll. Some brands (huge puffy rolls) won't fit though.
What was that blue gun you used after grinding down welds?
Zendex Speed Blaster Blue Portable Sand Blaster (or similar brand) - It's called a SPEED BLASTER. All the products and tools are listed in the description Steve - feel free to ask ?s if needed - have a good weekend :)
Good lawd that trucks practically new
I sold it to a local guy and he just fell in love with it. It has near 300,000 miles on it but drive like new - quite as a mouse too :)
to fill a large whole i used an old sock and jb weld fix it up and sold the car
I love your work very satisfying watching things get DONE. your delivery is perfect 👌 Thank you 🎉
I really appreciate hearing that - you're very welcome my friend - have a good weekend :)
i sub'd but going to unsub because of the link for community guidelines... you do great work but censoring comments is a joke and im outta here
I want teachers to be able to have their kids watch these videos - can't have a bunch of cuss words and negative comments 😊
What size flux wire are you using?
.030" - the wire that came with the welder. One of the best flux core welders I know loves YESWELDER flux core wire - says its better than any he's used - even the top brands
Will used full synthetic oil do the trick?
Any oil will work fine - even used vegetable oil if you are an environment kind of person 👍
Yes thank you appreciate it 👍👍👍👍
No problem 👍
How long do you need to wait before you sand it and buffing
Usually the next day is fine to sand and buff with any automotive paint/product 😊
Bro 😎 I know nothin on doing body work, but inherited a 1969 Chevy impala and did the metal work to replace the rust, but your knowledge is worth millions for me as I am now doing the bondo and thanks 🙏 for sharing your experience it help me a lot!!!!!!
You found the right channel if you want to get good at rust repairs, large dents, collision, etc. Feel free to ask ?s too - I get to them every day :)
I have a big question I cannot seem to get answered. How long can rage Ultra stay over epoxy that is not primed during a restoration? Let me add that the car is inside the garage all the time but now that summertime is coming the humidity may be increased
The truth is... as long as you want. With epoxy primer underneath, you have noting to worry about. We're in Michigan so it's probably medium humidity - maybe other states may be diff. Here's a video on that topic - ua-cam.com/video/zGHxBr_LpzM/v-deo.html This was left outside without epoxy under the filler :)
I love it when I see in the comments, a better way to do it LOL
If that glue stays flexible wont that cause cracks in the paint and filler?
It's not that flexible. Actually the urethane paint is probably more flexible than the glue. We are talking about a very small amount - just enough to keep it from shattering or cracking when hit hard.
JB weld ! Nice
Perfect !
Full vid?
ua-cam.com/video/wRl1QfkrBeY/v-deo.html and the 5 years follow up - ua-cam.com/video/idrLzsz2eLg/v-deo.html
What do you use to bond it
Gorilla glue
JB Weld as the video states 😂
JB Weld - here's the five year follow up on that repair too - ua-cam.com/video/idrLzsz2eLg/v-deo.html and the original full vid - ua-cam.com/video/wRl1QfkrBeY/v-deo.html
There's no easy way to say this it's a little bit on the rough side you shouldn't really not be teaching people such terribly bad techniques seriously you should have no more than 2 mils of fill on a easy job like that max and no big grind marks especially going against the shape of the panel you should really be embarrassed about this I would stop doing any more and leave it to some of the other guys that do a far better example even then there not perfect but good enough meaning you and a few others like bad Chad are a dead loss in the trade to many of you with bad very bad techniques if not no techniques but it seems that everywhere else in the world gets away with murder very low class mostly think they can charge good money for it giving the guys that know how to do a good job at bad name making them look like they're overcharging perhaps so you're not doing the good guys who have the experience any favours at all here you just make it worse for 80% is there are too many people out there with no common sense or mechanical knowledge to know what what they are doing wrong and what is a good job and now they see this and it's a big excuse for them to make a mess and for the next person who gets the car don't mean to be too negative but there's not much else you can really say I had to laugh about the finger on the hammer handle which shows you've had no experience or next to none 😞😞😞😞😕
It's best if you stop in at a few local body shops to find the truth on auto body repairs - stay away from magazine, car shows, TV, YT videos of folks that haven't worked in a real body shop - Check this video out for truth on filler thickness - ua-cam.com/video/rIoNhu166Hw/v-deo.html and a 5 year follow up on a literal bondo bucket - will last out lifetimes too 'cause it's done right - ua-cam.com/video/idrLzsz2eLg/v-deo.html
Beautiful!
Thanks 😊
How much did a job like that cost all in?
I did this car for m son to drive in the winter so we kept the cost down. All materials from start to finish was around 1K. Got the car from a place that sells green title rebuildable cars and trucks.
Another great video, thanks! What gauge sheet metal is that? Those sheers cut it like its 22ga or smaller.
They cut pretty thick stuff - I commonly cut 20 gauge (.035") and 22 gauge (.030") It'll gut thicker too - It's from HF so I think the specs are on the site :)
WAY TOO MUCH paint!
Great job and information. You da man .
I appreciate that M. C - enjoy the rest of the week :)
Thanks for sharing. Hope they got a 66-67 buick special/skylark kit in stock. Hoping to get at my car soon
I'll bet they do That's a cool car for sure 👍
